Dr. Cogswell recruited Thomas Gallaudet (recent grad from Yale) to teach Alice Cogswell (who was deaf in early childhood by fever). Sent him to Europe in 1815 where he turned to Paris French schoolteachers at the famous Paris school where he successfully recruited Laurent Clerc
