Pyogenic Granuloma VS peripheral Giant Cell Granuloma Flashcards
Initiated by trauma or irritation modified by hormones, drugs
Etiology - pyogenic granuloma
Probably trauma or irritation. Not related to hormones or drugs
Etiology - peripheral giant cell granuloma
Predominantly gingiva, but any traumatized soft tissue
Location - pyogenic granuloma
Exclusively gingival usually anterior to first molars
Location - peripheral giant cell granuloma
Hyperplastic granulation tissue
Misnomer-neither pus producing nor granulomatous
Histopathology - Pyogenic granuloma
Hyperplasia of fibroblasts with multi nucleated giant cells
Not granulomatous inflammation
Histopatology - peripheral giant cell granuloma
Excision to periosteum or PDL membrane
Treatment for pyogenic granuloma and peripheral giant cell granuloma
Some recurrences; no malignant potential
Recurrence for pyogenic granuloma and peripheral giant cell granuloma
