Who led the Spartacist putsch and what was it?
Led by Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, it was left wing putsch and wanted a socialist revolution
What occurred in the Spartacist putsch?
They barricaded themselves in key communication buildings and called for a strike.
They were then attacked by the Freikorps and the leaders killed along with 100 communists

What happened in the Kapp Putsch?
Kapp and the Freikorps marched to Berlin and took over, the Weimar Government were forced to flee.
Kapp declared a new right wing Government.
The workers went on strike, there was stopping all water, electricity or transport
After four days Kapp fled and the Government was reinstated
What did the Kapp Putsch want?
They were unhappy with the democratic government so wanted to overthrow them, create a military right wing dictatorship; and ignore the TOV
What was the result of all the putsches on the Weimar Government?
Made it seem like it wasn’t working - hadn’t had these problems under the Kaise

What was the Munich Putsch?
A right wing rebellion led by the Nazis
Why did Hitler do the Munich Putsch?
He thought the Weimar Government was crumbling (hyperinflation) and since the public didn’t like Weimar that they would support him.
Hitler believed he had the support the Kahr
Hitler thought since Ludendorff; a respected army general; was on his side the police would support him
What happened in the Munich Putsch?
Hitler and stormtroopers broke into a public meeting in a beer hall.
He took the Kahr hostage and forced him at gunpoint to support the putsch.
Hitler let the Kahr go and the Kahr told Weimar about the plan
The next day when the Nazis march into Munich they were ambushed by the police.
