Evaluate Risk vs Reward to protect the public…

A
  • Want, Speed, location, conditions (weather, peds, traffic, etc), description, # of occupants, threat of force, ID
  • As a Sgt. I will cancel the pursuit if necessary
  • Ensure all units shall discontinue if requested and have acknowledged the order
  • If allied won’t drop out we will drop out
  • Safety to the officers / public / suspects
  • Officers familiarity of location

Proceed to termination point..

A

I will proceed to the termination point and assume Incident Command and establish ICS if necessary.
EMS – if needed
Arrest procedures followed.

Ensure traffic is handled in a manner that meets the needs of the incident and creates the minimum disruption to normal traffic. (CMS Signs, SIG Alert, Caltrans or County roads for hard closure). At the end of the incident I will make sure the scene is restored and traffic is flowing.
