Q

What happened in Key Scene 1?

A
  • When a soldier or horse died the black vultures came onstage and would fly around the boys acting as though they were feeding on the corpses.
  • However, in contrast in a light and comedic part of the play the goose came on.

Q

What happened in Key Scene 2?

A
  • The people that manoeuvred the horses were all dressed in one colour (rusty brown/orange for Joey and black for Topthorn).
  • The body moved up and down symbolising breathing.
  • The ears moving and the tail twitching added to the realism of the horses.

Q

What impact did this have on Key Scene 1?

A
  • This made the vultures a symbol of death and dark periods in time.
  • However this is juxtaposed with the goose as it was a symbol of light-hearted moment which is more comedic part of the production.

Q

What impact does this have on Key Scene 2?

A
  • The horse has the ear twitches and the breathing to show how real the horses are, adds a sense of really good physicality.
  • The colour of the people manoeuvring the horse being the same colour stopped there being a barrier between the horse and the people added to the realism.
