What happened in Key Scene 1?

A
  • All characters in the town, wore fairly muted colours of browns and greys - working class background.
  • The materials used, for example: tweed, wool, cotton. Helped present the stereotypical persons living in the country around 1914.
  • All the characters seemed content and happy with what they were wearing and living in rural England.

What happened in Key Scene 2?

A
  • There were soldiers that were returning to the war, they were dressed in all black, ripped clothes. One character depicted a soldier who lost a limb during the war.
  • Make up was white and pale, to illustrate a corpse like figure. Faces were contoured with grey to show the deprived soldiers in the war.
  • Make up was also used to show wounds given to soldiers from fighting.
