Q

What happens when frontal impact protection is avtivated?

A
  • Seatbelts retract and tighten
  • It pulls the air ride seats to the lowest level.
  • Deploys side curtain air bags from the seatback head rest.
  • deploys air bags in steering wheel
  • deploys air bag in front of officers knees

Q

2 types of regen

A
  • passive regen- Can occur during normal engine operations, driving or pumping. No action needed by the driver.
  • Active regen - The apparatus may active regen without any action by the driver. However, when needed, driver can assist in activating the regen by changing the ‘duty cycle’ of the engine, i.e. switch to highway driving or pumping conditions, or initiating a parked regen.

Q

Steps when initaiting parked regen

A
  • park outside, off roadway, on clean/ clear surface - no asphalt!
  • Minimum 5 ft clearance around exhaust and away from people, or any flammable material.
  • Temps during regen can reach up to 1500 degrees.

Q

Diesel particulate filter light (DPF)

A
  • Light is solid - Vehicle requires regen in reasonable amount of time.
  • Light flashing - vehicle requires regen ASAP.
  • Light in combination with stop engine light - immediately move to nearest safe location, shut down, take out of service.

15
Q

Electronic transmission fluid check

A
  • Fluid temp is between 140-220 degrees.
Vehicle has been stationary for about 2 minutes.
16
Q

Antilock braking system (ABS)

A
  • also allows for Anti-slip-resistance (ASR).
  • If one wheel is off the road, spinning, ASR will apply that brake to increase torque to the other wheel.
  • If both wheels are spinning ASR will reduce the engine torque to match the conditions.
  • ASR is completely automatic.
16
Q

Off road traction control switch

A
  • Use when you don’t want ASR to work at 100%.
  • in conditions such as deep mud, snow, loose dirt, or sand
17
Q

Onspot chains

A
  • Engage when going 2-25 mph
  • Do not exceed 35 mph.
18
Q

PSI to operate pump

A

Must have 80 psi or greater to operate pump.

19
Q

Steps to manually engage pump

A
  1. In neautraul, park break set, at idle; Driver puts the ‘pump shift control’ lever in the middle position.
  2. Second person pushes in the ‘manual pump shift override’ handle (on pump panel)
  3. With handle held in, driver puts ‘pump shift control’ lever to pump and shifts to drive.

-Control lever must be in pump for throttles and interlocks to function.

20
Q

Pump pressure system governor (Enforcer)

A
  • When placed in pump gear, defaults to Pressure Control mode for pressure and cavitation protection.
21
Q

Enforcer Foam system: Flow at what percentage?

A
  • Can flow 3,000 gpm at 0.4%
  • 30 gallon tank 7,500 gallons of foam solution at 0.4%
