Q

When estimating the PA pressure on Echocardiogram, how to do this?

A

Take that the PA pressure equals the RV pressure (RVp= PAp)
The amount of Tricuspid regurg is equal to the pressure difference between the RV and the RA.
So RVp-RAp= TR (TR is directly measured on echo)
RAp can be estimated from IVC.

If IVC is plump and noncompressible use 15mmHg as pressure
If IVC is plump but compressible use 8 mmHg as pressure
If IVC is small use 3mmHg as pressure
