Pulmonary and Systemic Circulation Flashcards
What type circulation takes place on the right side of the heart
Pulmonary Circulation (Deoxygenated blood)
What type of circulation takes place on the left side of the heart
Systemic Circulation (Oxygenated blood)
What is pulmonary circulation
Movement of blood between heart and lungs
Transports deoxygenated blood to the lungs to absorb oxygen and remove carbon dioxide
The oxygenated blood then flows back to the heart
What is systemic circulation
Movement of blood between heart and rest of body
Carries oxygen and nutrients to the cells and picks up carbon dioxide and waste products
Carries oxygenated blood from the left ventricle through the arteries to the capillaries in the tissues of the body
How does the heart get its own supply of blood
Coronary circulation
What is coronary circulation
Coronary arteries deliver oxygenated blood from the aorta to the heart
