what is pr?
• the aim of public relations is to improve the image of the organisation is the eyes of all its stakeholders, shareholders, employees etc
• public relation activities are planned and will cost the organisation money
• effective PR will give the organisation a good image which will increase sales
what are 5 advantages of pr?
• provides public with information about the organisation
• builds confidence / reputation of the organisation and awareness of its products
• develops goodwill in the community
• presents the organisation in a positive way
• supports and enhances other areas of the promotion m such as advertising and selling
what are press releases?
• a press release is usually a written statement to the press that communicates activities within the organisation
• a press release does not have to be written, it can be recorded and communicated to the media for the purpose of announcing something netsworthy
what are charity donations?
• organisations may donate sums of money to charities in the hope of not only helping a good cause but to be seen as socially responsible
• this helps raise awareness of the organisation
what are event sponsorships?
• organisations will sponsor events where there is likely to be a lot of public attention
• sports and charity events are often sponsored by large organisations which have their company name displayed on material that the sport or charity is distributing
• football strips are sponsored by companies for example
