pubic anatomy Flashcards
1
Q
Main muscle of daefacation
A
Between pubis and rectum
2
Q
Arterial supply of the rectum
A
Superior rectal : inferior mesenteric artery
Middle rectal: internal illiac
Inferior rectal: Internal pudendal
3
Q
Lymphatic drainage of the rectum and anal canal
A
Anal canal: superficial inguinal
Rectum: external iliac and sacral
Sup. rectum: sacral
Sacral goes to para-aortic
4
Q
Nervous signalling in daefacation
A
Stretch receptors activate parasympathetics (S2-4)
Lumbar sympathetics are inhibited (L1,2) involuntary sphincter relaxes.
Somatic nerves inhibited via pudendal nerve, voluntary sphincter relaxes.
Parasympathetic efferents are activated, peristalsis and mass movement are activated
