When the bleeding starts. The uterus lining breaks down for about four days
What is stage 2 of the menstrual cycle
The uterus lining builds up again from day 4 to 14 , turns into layer full of blood vessels and is ready to receive a fertilised egg
What happens on the third stage of the menstrual cycle
An egg is released from an ovary. This is called ovulation
What happens on the 4th stage of the menstrual cycle
The wall is kept the same. If no fertilised egg has landed on the uterus wall, the lining breaks down and the cycle starts again
