PTM Ch. 9 Pneumatics Flashcards
What are the different parts of the pneumatic system?
Unregulated
18 psi
31 psi
What is unregulated bleed air used for?
The top half of engine intake
Why isn’t the bottom half of the engine intake heated by bleed air?
Oil from the planetary gear box heats it.
What side of the engine is bleed air taken from?
Left side
The bleed air goes through a heat exchanger. Why?
To increase service life of associated components
The bleed air moves through two tubes after the heat exchanger. What is the smaller tube for?
18 and 31 psi
The bleed air moves through two tubes after the heat exchanger. What is the larger tube for?
Unregulated air.
What does the check valve do?
Prevent back flow of bleed air. It’s like a flapper valve.
With the engine off, what position is the bleed air shutoff valve is open or closed?
Closed by spring pressure.
What is the suction range?
4.4-4.8
What are the bleed air SOV are powered by what?
Non essential bus
What is the deice pressure indicator for?
Allows pilots to monitor the 18 psi system pressure
18 psi bleed air is routed to an air injector Venturi for what?
To create suction for all components of the vacuum system
If you lose an engine will you still be able to have enough bleed air to power all pneumatics?
Yes
When does the LOW SUCTION annunciator come on?
When suction drops below 4.4 in Hg
