focuses on how humans interact with each other.
includes topics like attraction, prejudice, conflict resolution, authority.
What’s industrial-Organizational Psychology?
Focuses on how behavior affects the workplace, and how the workplace affects behavior.
Industrial psychology
selecting, training, and evaluating employees based on job requirements.
Organization psychology
focuses on how relationships at work affect individuals and job performance. Studies worker satisfaction, motivation, commitment, leadership styles, and sexual harassment
Human factors psychology
studies how people interact with and use tools/ work systems at work like desks, chairs, and computers. Also called ergonomics.
What’s Health Psychology?
Focuses on biological, psychological, and social factors and how they interact with each other to impact an individual’s health. Also called the “biopsychosocial model”.
What is Sport and Exercise Psychology?
Focuses on how psychological factors impact people with physically demanding jobs, like athletes, firefighters, soldiers, etc.
What is Forensic Psychology?
Focus on how psychology affects the justice system.
What is Clinical Psychology?
Focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders (aka mental illnesses).
What is a psychiatrist?
a medical doctor with specialized training in the medical treatment of people with mental health issues.
Psychiatrists prescribe psychotropic medications, which are meds that are intended to target mental health symptoms.
What is a psychologist?
- a person who has earned a doctoral degree in psychology (usually a PsyD)
Psychologists can conduct research and publish findings, teach classes at colleges or universities, administer and interpret psychological tests, and provide therapy.
What is a Therapist/Counselor/Social worker?
a person who has earned a master’s degree in a clinical program.
They specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses. Some therapists also work as professors at colleges or universities.
What is the LMFT license?
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
What is the LCSW license?
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
What is LPC?
Licensed Professional Counselor.
