Collective Unconscious
This is a level of unconscious shared with other members of the human species comprising latent memories from our ancestral and evolutionary past.

Introverted Art
The introverted attitude is characterized by the subject’s assertion of his conscious intentions and aims against the demands of the object
Extraverted Art
The extraverted attitude is characterized by the subject’s subordination to the demands which the object makes
upon him.
For Jung, only extraverted art can really be analyzed as “symbolic”
Autonomous complex
“a detached portion of the psyche, leads an independent psychic life, withdrawn from the hierarchy of consciousness” (223)

Images and thoughts which have universal meanings across cultures which may show up in dreams, literature, art or religion.
Symbols from different cultures are similar because they have emerged from archetypes shared by the whole human race.
How did Jung redefine subjectivity?
