Tragedy of Destiny

A

its tragic effect depends on the conflict between the all-powerful will of the gods and the vain efforts of human beings threatened with disaster; resignation to the divine will is the intended lesson. [paraphrased]

Q

Why do we have dreams?

A

loaded psychic material would be loaded into the subconscious because we can’t handle it
*we would repeatedly wake up if the traumas manifest directly
*everyone has a censor to keep material in the unconscious
(solution- dreamwork that acts as a pressure release valve)
*dreamwork works when some material is smuggled past the censor into the conscious
