Assessment of a suspected disorder
Applied for by mental health practitioner who has seen patient within 14 days with recommendation from dr who has seen within 5 days
Right to appeal within 14days
Mental health section 3
6 months but can be renewed
Tx for diagnosed disorder
Right to appeal once ever 6months
Tx reviews ever 3 and 6 months
Mental health section 4
Duration 72 hours with view of converting to section 2/3
Admission in an emergency
Applied for by AMHP or relative with Dr recommendation
No right to appeal

72 hours
Prevent patient leaving hospital - inpatient environment
No appeal

6 hours
Same as 5(2) but instead psychiatric nurses can use this to detain patients when dr not available

Allows police to enter patients property to take them to a safe place.
One time use , need a warrant next time

Allows police to take person from public place to place of safety if suspected disorder

Citalopram and recently started mitazapine
High temp, 120 HR, confused and hallucinating, sweating, tremor and exaggerated reflexes
Serotonin syndrome
Potentially fatal
SSRI and NaSSA(noradrenaline specific serotonin antidepressant)

Extrapyramidal D2 blockage - parkinsonian movement and akathisia QT prolongation Hypotension Hyperprolactinaenimia
Atypical antipsychotics SEs
Metabolic disturbances
Weight gain, DM, lipid changes
QT prolongation
Sedation
Risperidone - hyperprolactineamia
- sexual disfunction
Clozapine - neutropenia
