A

Pain, redness, swelling of joints in OA like pattern.

Chronic is similar to OA.

Hypothryoidism

What are Ix for CPPD?

A

Joint aspirate (+ve rhomboid shape crystals)

Bloods: Ca and PTH, thyroid, iron studies, Mg

Imaging: cartilage calcification

Rx of CPPD?

A

Aspirate joint fluid
Intra-articular steroids
NSAIDs and colchicine

May need systemic steroids

Joint replacement if recurrence
