Define PMR
A
An inflammatory rheum. condition manifesting as pain and morning stiffness involving the neck, shoulder, and pelvic girdle. `

What are risk factors for PMR?
A
Age >50
Temporal arteritis
Female

What are Sx of PMR?
A
Shoulder, pelvic girdle, hip pain.
Onset < 4 weeks
Stiffness > 45 minutes
proximal muscle pain
Low grade fever, MSK signs, CTS, upper arm tenderness, fatigue, weight loss

Ix for PMR?
A
Bloods (ESR and CRP elevated)
US: bursitis
exclude others

Differentials for PMR?
A
GCA RA hypothyroid fibromyalgia polymyositis

Management of PMR?
A
Oral pred trial, recheck CRP and ESR with calcium vit D bisphosphonates etc.
Trial DMARDs
