What is the aim of Metal Framework Try-in?
Ensure the partial denture framework fits
What should you do before trying the metal-framework in the patients mouth? (6)
Check the dental stone cast - for: (6)
Broken teeth (glued back on)
Scratches on abutment teeth (clasps too tight)
Over-trimmed model
Air blows or blobs of stone (under the framework)
Drag marks
If the framework seats down correctly
Decribe the clinical steps ot metal-framework try-in (7)
1) Examine the dental stone cast (6)
2) Place framework into patients mouth - do not force into place (not path of insertion)
3) Check if:
Rest seats engage
Major connector is flush with underlying tissue
Framework seats correctly
Framework interferes with occlusion
4) If it doesnt fit correctly - use occlude spray to determine which parts of metal framework are in contact with teeth
5) Clasps are adjusted using Adam’s pliers
6) Check occlusion using articulating paper (horse-shoe)
7) Labratory perscription: Please add wax occlusal rims to framework
Give 2 reasons that would make you retake the secondary impressions? (2)
If framework still rocks after being fully seated down
If there is space under the posterior edge of the palatal major connector after being fully seated down
