Q

WHY PROTOTYPE?

A

Common communication device among team members

Can adapt changes early

Effective way for designers to explore design ideas

Support designers in choosing between alternatives

Q

LOW-FIDELITY PROTOTYPING

A

Doesn’t look much like the final product

Useful as a quick first-cut in the
early stages of development

Should be flexible and encourage
exploration and modification

Q

HIGH FIDELITY PROTOTYPING

A
  • Actually works!
  • Not fully debugged but works acceptably well
  • Useful for testing technical issues

Q

Problems with high fidelity prototyping

A
  • Can take a long time to build
  • Testers struggle to focus on content
  • Developers are reluctant to change something that took so long to make
  • A software prototype can set expectations too high
  • A hardware prototype can be hard to compare to the final design
  • Bugs in high-fidelity prototypes can delay testing
