Protein Blotting Flashcards
1
Q
What do antibodies used in protein blotting allow?
A
Proteins from tissue or cell extracts be detected
2
Q
What happens after the proteins from the sample are separated using gel electrophoresis ?
A
The proteins are transferred to a membrane
3
Q
What happens to the membrane?
A
The membrane is then probed for the protein of interest using a specific antibody that is linked to a detectable label. This label may be a reporter enzyme which brings about a detectable colour change to indicate the presence of the target protein
