PROJECTION INTRO Flashcards
What is the meaning of projectors?
Projectors means image and it is comparable to the image formed on the retina of the eyes.
To what can projection be compared in the context of cinema?
Projection can also be compared to the image of the object on the screen, where the film is projected (by the cinema projector) by the light rays.
How can projection or images be formed between the eyes and the object?
Projection or images can also be formed in between the eyes and the object by keeping a transparent plane.
Line of Sight
An imaginary ray of light between an observer’s eye and an object-
Plane of projection
An imaginary flat plane upon which the image created by the line of sight is projected -
Projection
The image produced by connecting the points where the lines of sight pierce the projection plane -
parallel projection.
If the distance from the observer to the object is infinite, then the projection lines are parallel and the drawing is classified as a parallel projection.
perspective projection/Convergent Projection.
If the distance from the observer to the object is finite, then the projection lines are not parallel and the drawing is classified as a perspective projection/Convergent Projection.
Orthographic projection
A parallel projection technique in which plane of projection is perpendicular to the parallel line of sight- Orthographic projection
Multi View Projection
An orthographic parallel projection technique where the object is oriented such that only two of its dimensions are shown - Multi View Projection
Frontal plane of projectio
The plane onto which the Front View (FV) of the multi-view drawing is projected-Frontal plane of project
ion
*The front view (Elevation) of an object shows-width and height dimensions
Horizontal plane of projection
The plane onto which the Top View of the multi-view drawing isprojected
- The top view (Plan) of an object shows-width and LENGTH dimensions.
Profile plane of projection
The plane onto which the Side View of the multi-view drawing is projected
*The side view of an object shows-Length/width and height dimensions
Sectional drawings
Sectional drawings are multi-view technical drawings that contain special views of a part or parts, that reveal Interior features
