INSTRUMENTS 2 Flashcards
What is a protractor?
Instrument used for measuring & setting angles which can’t be obtained by setsquares -
What are the common types of protractors?
0-180-degree semicircular protractor &
0-360-degree circular protractor
What is the least count of a protractor?
The least count of a protractor is 1 degree.
What is a compass?
A compass is an instrument used for drawing circles and arcs of circles.
A large bow compass
A large bow compass is used to draw circles up to 200 mm radius.
A spring bow compass
A spring bow compass is used to draw circles up to 25 mm radius.
Drop Spring Bow Compass
Instrument used to draw circles of very small radius
What is used with the large compass to draw circles greater than 200 mm radius?
A lengthening bar is used with the large compass to draw circles greater than 200 mm radius.
What is a beam compass and how does it work?
A beam compass consists of a beam made of steel or wood, with a steel point used as the center. The compass point (pencil/pen) is adjustable, allowing the drawing of large circles and arcs. The divider and pencil points are replaceable in adjustable holders. The pens can also adjust the thickness of the lines.
what is Divider
Instrument used for dividing curved or straight lines into any number of equal parts
what is Divider 2
Instrument used for Stepping/ transferring dimension from one point to another
what is Divider 3
Instrument used for Setting dimensions from scale to drawing
Bow divider
For transferring for dimension up to 25 mm radius
large divider
For transferring for dimension more than 25 mm radius
Proportional dividers
Instrument used for reducing or enlarging drawing from an available drawing without converting numerical values
