Parallel Line Method
This method used for such of those objects having parallel elements i.e developing prisms and single curved surfaces like cylinders, in which all the edges/generators of lateral surfaces are parallel to each other.
Radial Line Method A
It is used for developing the surfaces of pyramids and also for single curved surfaces like cones, having its apex as centre and the slant edges or generators are taken as radius for drawing its development. Radial line development has the fold lines, coming from a point which is known as apex.
Triangulation Method
*
This method is used for developing transition pieces.
The word triangulation defines of developing surfaces by breaking into series of triangles. In triangulation method objects having combination of curved and plane surfaces.
- Wrapped surfaces cannot be laid out flat on a plane. hence they can be developed approximately using a series of triangle.
Approximation Method
A Approximation method is used to develop objects of double curved or warped surfaces as sphere, paraboloid, ellipsoid, hyperboloid and helicoid.
Process of unfolding of all the surfaces of an object on a plane-

Development of surface
Method which uses parallel lines to construct the expanded pattern of each three-dimensional shape-
Parallel line method
Parallel Line Method isused for-
Prism & Cylinder
Method used for objects having parallel elements-
Parallel line method
Method which uses lines radiating from a central point to construct the expanded pattern of each three-dimensional shape-
Radial Line Method
Radial Line Method isused for-
Cone & Pyramid.
Method used for developing solids generated by a line which is fixed at one end and the otherend describes the path-
Radial line method
Method of development which involve subdividing any ruled surface into a series of triangular areas -
Triangulation Method
Triangulation developments are made from
polyhedrons, single curved surfaces, and wrapped surfaces.
The method by which the development of surface of an oblique solid is obtained -
Triangulation
- Method used for Surfaces of the solid which are bounded by double curve or warped surfaces-

Approximate
method
Method in which stretching, or distortion occurs in the processof creating the development-

Region bounded by a chord of a circle and the intercepted arc of the circle-
