prognosis Flashcards
malig HTN
death 1-2 yrs
type A aortic dissection
Rapid diagnosis and anti-HTN therapy + surgical correction leads to 65-85% recovery.
If they present with hemorrhage or distal ischemia then there is 70% mortality
type B aortic dissection
75% survival rate.
Takayasu Arteritis (pulseless disease)
variable with rapid progression or quiescent stage that leads to long-term survival after 1-2 years with visual/neuro prbs.
Polyarteritis Nodosa (PAN)
Untreated = fatal (commonly from renal involvement).
Immunosuppressive therapy = 90% remission rate
Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (Wegener Granulomatosis)
Untreated: 80% mortality (1 year).
Tx: okay
Nevus Flammeus
spont regression
Juvenile Hemangioma
fade in 1-3 yrs, then regress in 7
classic ks
excellent w sx
endemic african ks
Severe form in prepubertal kids with LN and visceral involvement has a 100%, 3 yr mortality rate
tetrology of fallot
rarely survive into adulthood
tricuspid atresia
infant death
MI poorer prognosis if:
older age, female, DM, prior MI
aortic stenosis
poor bc basically a valvluar degeneration
acute infective endocarditis
even w sx, may die in a few wks
