Produktutvecklingsmetodik - produktutvecklingsprocessen Flashcards

1
Q

What is product development?

A

A creative process based on the function and quality requirements of different actors and norms and safety requirements that aim to:

  • Create, verify and document a technical solution
  • Produce manufacturing documentation

With the goal of “good finances” for buyers and suppliers.

Q

What is the purpose of a PD process?

A
  • Describe the documents from idea to process
  • Places different methods and tools along the process
  • Act as a support for the PD team of what to do when and where

Q

What can happen during the PD process?

A

Iterations. A PD process is rarely linear. Iterations occur in different stages of the process due to missing information or that all the parts are not ready in time

Q

What are the reasons for documenting and refining the PD process?

A
  • Increase knowledge of the process
  • Identify problems and possible improvements
  • Maintain knowledge within the organization
  • Reduce development time and development costs
  • Enable earlier and fewer design changes
  • Benchmarking
  • Improve knowledge transfer from one product to the next

10
Q

What are the pros and cons of sequential PD?

A

+ Easy to handle

  • Long lead time
  • bureaucratic
  • bad cross contact
  • Risk of misunderstanding
  • Often “Panic” in the final phase

Q

What are the pros and cons of an integrated PD?

A
\+ Shorter lead time
\+ better optimization of resources
\+ good communication between departments
\+ management´s overview is simplified
\+ cost-effective
\+ the right product quality
- Make great demands on project management and coordination

Q

Describe the PD process according to Ulrich and Eppinger

A

A process funnel:

  1. planning
  2. concept generation
  3. concept elimination
  4. system design
  5. detailed design
  6. test, improvement
  7. production controll

Q

How do you evaluate a PD process efficiency?

A
  1. Profit - but does not reflect what is being done within the framwork of PD
  2. Time - cost- quality (Ullman)
  3. Ulrich and Eppinger five parameters
    - Product quality
    - Product cost
    - Development time
    - development cost
    - development capacity

16
Q

Name some challenges of PD

A
  • Changes
  • Details
  • Time Pressure
  • Economy
  • All development process projects are different
17
Q

Describe the design paradox

A

In the beginning the “Freedom of Action” is high percentage while the “Product knowlegde and “Modification costs” are low. As time passes, the freedom of action decreases while product knowledge and modification cost arises. Meaning a harder time going through design changes further in the PD project. New requirements are more costful

18
Q

Vad är syftet med miljöanpassad produktutveckling?

A

Att i tidigt stadie minimera den miljöpåverkan som produkten kommer ge upphov till under sin livscykel
