Make sure it is convenient for customers and fit for purpose.
In terms of aesthetics what would a business do with the product?
Make sure the size, appearance, smell, and shape is taken into consideration and that they chose the best raw materials. Create an emotional attachment with the product.
In terms of cost what would a business do with the product?
Should be able to produce and sell products at a profit
Need to select materials and processes that reduce costs.
Define resource depletion?
The using up of raw materials.
What are two designs that businesses may use for waste minimisation?
- Products that use lots of energy should be more durable.
- Products should be designed smaller and lighter to cut down materials.
What are two designs that businesses may use for recycling?
- Use recycling materials.
- Make use of waste discarded by other firm.
What are three benefits of adapting product designs to go with social trends?
- Lower costs and higher profits.
- More likely to be popular.
- Can gain USP to market product.
Define ethical sourcing.
Where a business only buys products that are produced with fair working conditions and pay for workers, as well as minimalising the impact on the environment.
