PRODUCT/FEATURES Flashcards
Why are you building Paire MVP?
Cold start problem.
The reason we’re building Paire as an MVP:
1- We’re learning what makes a meaningful 1-1 interaction in VR, which we believe is the core of dating
2- Paire will be our freemium funnel: By keeping it broad and free, we can target a lot more users and funnel them towards dating (or any pivot built on 1-1 interactions)
“we think Elixir is our end goal, but we’re ready to pivot as soon as we learn it doesn’t make sense”
What part of your project are you going to build first?
We’re building a platform to meet people one on one platonically and give them activities to engage conversation. Then we’ll start adding matching based on interest, which we’ll grow into matching based on romantic interest when we move into dating.
If your startup succeeds, what additional areas might you be able to expand into?
Two of the areas we’re considering:
- Pairing with existing dating apps to bring in users once they’ve matched
- Platformise our one-on-one solution that users can create their own activities and cosmetics, and take a share of these. This model worked really great for
What have you learned so far from working on it?
We’ve spent a lot of time putting the product in people’s hands, and we learned that they are really worried about moderation. We are as well and we’re investing in making sure that there are no gaps in it.
Have you considered becoming a platform?
Yes, there are multiple ways we can make our app a platform.
For example, allowing users to create and sell cosmetics and dating experiences to other users.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
Moderation.
Six months from now, what’s going to be your biggest problem?
As the scale of our app grows, moderation is
What problems/hurdles are you anticipating?
Moderation and age restriction.
Someone just showed us an idea like this right before you guys. I don’t like it. What else do you have?
Although we have different ideas, this is the one we’re most confident and passionate to solve.
Are you open to changing your idea?
Yes absolutely. We’re paranoid about our assumptions are ready to pivot whenever they become false.
Where is the rocket science here?
The rocket science is virtual reality. Whenever someone tries it and has a conversation with someone else, it’s the closest thing to magic to them.
How does your product work in more detail?
In the dating version of our app, you’ll be be able to swipe on people’s profile and whenever two people who matched are online at the same time, we’ll send a notification to hop on a date, which will be a dating experience that we provide (question-based games, bowling). You can also set a date and meet at a later time.
What is the next step with product evolution?
We’re building a platform to meet people one on one platonically and give them activities to engage conversation. Then we’ll start adding matching based on interest, which we’ll grow into matching based on romantic interest when we move into dating.
Do you have a demo
Yes, we submitted our demo in the application update.
What are you going to do next?
We’re going to launch the MVP, which is our one-on-one interactions app, and iterate until we reach product market fit.
We will launch in-app purchases to support our growth as we start paid acquisition
