INDUSTRY/COMPETITORS Flashcards
What, exactly, makes you different from existing options?
Flirtual: a niche, anime style anonymous dating platform built for completely virtual relationships. It’s also web based matchmaking that uses other platforms to meet.
Planet theta: tries to recreate reality with virtual bars and clubs. Imagine 2012 second life in VR. They’ve already collapsed
We create a polished, approachable dating platform that translates to real life connections.
What’s new about what you make?
We make dating easier than ever by removing all barriers, so you can find the right person faster than ever.
Why isn’t someone already doing this?
VR is still a niche market, very risky
We’ve seen one competitor blow a lot of money trying to recreate bars and clubs, but that leads to unbearable harassment for girls.
Large companies not only move slow but entering the uncertain VR space is a multi million dollar decision.
We can do it much faster than tinder. Cna take much bigger risks
What are the key things about your field that outsiders don’t understand?
Trying VR is the closest thing to experiencing magic in real life (aside from drugs). The tech is not only magical but the potential for deep connection is astounding.
Nowadays, everything is a competition for the user’s time. What will make the user spend time in your app instead of any other app?
Assuming that VR will be a growing part of everyone’s day, now the question is what makes our app better than other VR apps (including gaming and social apps). Our app has a superior UX to the other big social apps in UX
we’re not actually asking for a huge time.commitment from the user. i.e. you could conceivably jump on for 10 minutes while waiting for your dinner to cook.
Also we’re not a huge amount of sensory overload on the user - I’d assume people would rather have a one on one conversation when they’re tired than jump in venues / VR chat / rec room where it’s way too loud / too much movement.
What do you understand that others don’t?
We really live and breathe socializing in VR and it’s obvious none of our competitors have done the same.
Some competitors also don’t understand how revolutionary VR will be in the upcoming years because they aren’t users.
Who might become competitors?
Tinder, bumble, meta themselves. These goliaths are slow and have so much to lose.
Meta themselves even mentioned every single thing in their horizon worlds app takes 6 months to approve because of regulations and their scale.
