what is identifying needs and processes

A
  • finding solutions/meeting the needs and wants of society
  • the need, opportunity or problem is central/most important part of thoughts + ideas

Q

what is the design brief?

A
  • highlights the problem to be solved or need to be met
  • can be open ended- freedom or tight - specifications given + guidlines to follow
  • answers questions designer might pose

Q

what is research/investigation

A
  • collecting information that considers all aspects of a problem
  • can be found in books, online, past design ideas…
  • research must be ongoing during process
  • investigation: looks at ways which project = achieved

Q

what is design specification

A
  • consists of the concept, criteria and constraints
concept: design ideas, variations and final design
criteria: relates to outcome, include quality, user behaviour, benefit, maintenance, safety, purpose, aesthetics, ergonomics
constraints: time, budget, quality of resources

Q

what is design inspiration + initial sketches

A
  • inspiration - come from a variety of sources/research
  • brainstormins = come up with initial idea

Q

what is adaptation of ideas

A
  • sorting through ideas, selcting one most promising/suitable for further development
  • includes form, addition of detail, clarification of how aspects could go together
