- can involve testing the product, checking against the legal requirements or standards and getting feedback from clients or surveying the consumers

- important to see what has changed, been kept the same, identifying areas that need to be modified to ensure a successful deisgn

all designs have positive/negative impacts on society, individual, environment
society: provides choices in products
individual: sense of happiness, can benefit them in their functionality
environment: is it sustainable?

A
- allows to look at whether solution created is appropriate or suitable for design
factors: cost, safety, functionality, aesthetics, material characteristics, environmental impact - can be undertaken to assess success of project by testing it against set criteria, see if met them , see improvements
