process theodicy
A
- The idea that God is everything but cannot be reduced to everything.
- Makes sense of a god that acts in morally questionable ways the god that sent a flood to wipe out creation in the form of a flood in Noah’s ark.
- Imperfect universe had the potential to be prefect.
2
Q
strengths
A
- This god can suffer along with his people, and this shows that he loves them this is better than an all-loving god and all-powerful god that just sits and watches.
- Replaces a morally unappealing god to a one that suffers alongside and loves his creation.
3
Q
weaknesses
A
- Only works by changing the definition of God.
- This god cannot be responsible for the creation of the world as they would be too weak.
- This god cannot be the creator of the universe.
- The bible says that plans don’t change according to the whims of men this means that this god would be too weak to answer the prayers of the people.

Mackie and the free will defence.

free will defence.
A
- First order good
- Second order good
- Fourth order good that is God.
- Means that we can become thinking beings that are able to make moral decisions
- Able to do good some of the time but not all the time
- Means that God does not know how to do this, or he does not want to
- Plantinga says that it is not possible for humans to not think any bad thoughts at all.
- Means that there is a sacrifice to the greater good and that is heaven.
6
Q
strengths free will defense
A
- Seems logical for God to be able to make a world where people only do good.
- Evil would be necessary to good.
- Natural evil brings second order good.
- We need risk to have enjoyment. This is a weaker argument.
7
Q
weaknesses. free will defense.
A
- Does not show that the free will defence is true. All Plantinga does is elevate the story of Adam and eve.
- Evil is not worth the price that is comes at freedom is not worth the price that it comes at.
- Relies on a libertarianism view evil would be an assumption.
