Very similar to NG
Almost identical insertion processes
Except enter through the mouth
Tube remain in place hanging out of the mouth
Most patients find the nasogastric tube much more comfortable and easier to talk
Risks are the same as NG tube

Tube inserted directly through the body wall and into the stomach
Requires a surgical procedure to insert
Infection, bleeding, leakage of gastric contents into abdominal cavity
