Uses lining of abdomen (peritoneum) and a cleaning solution (dialysate) to clean blood.
Dialysate absorbs waste and fluid from blood, peritoneum filters
MNT: dialysate contains glucose that body absorbs, so observe BG levels and CHO intake
Hemodialysis
Used when kidney function is impaired
Blood filtered outside body
Bun/Creatinine Ratio (BCR) > 20
Skinfold thickness
Used in sports nutrition to see body fat composition
