Procedural Notes Flashcards
When must engines be pre heated by MTX?
When must engines be left at idle before changing Thrust Lever position
-40 C
-35 C
In very cold temperatures the FILTER BYPASS light illuminates. Is this normal?
Yes. Allow the oil temperatures to come up to normal range and it should stabilize.
Are IDGs affected by very cold temperature at start?
Yes. They may not produce steady power for 5 minutes.
If the oil pressure remains high after oil temperatures are in the normal range is this normal?
No. Shutdown.
If deicing fluid is in the APU intake inlet what should you do regarding the APU?
Run the APU with electrical load for 5 minutes.
CSFF temp limit
Fuel Temp => -16 degrees C
OAT = => 4 degrees C
No visible moisture
When are engine run ups required in regard to icing conditions?
NG
- 30 min intervals
70 % N1 for 30 seconds
- if freezing precip:
Momentary run ups @ 10 min intervals or less
MAX
- 60 min intervals to 50% momentarily then idle
Use these guidelines prior to takeoff roll as well (ask for time on runway).
If sanded runway: rolling if able for distance.

Where is the engine failure checklist found?
Where is the engine fire checklist found?
Failure: QRH 7
Fire: QRC, E1
Can you use VNAV without LNAV
No
Can you use LNAV without VNAV
Yes. (Vertical Speed Approach)
When is a runway considered narrow?
Why does it matter?
100 feet
Added restrictions (wind limits, braking action, contamination limits etc).
How long is a PDC for ETOPS valid?
4 hours from departure time.
When do you put a slash on the paper log for ETOPS flights?
2 min prior
How much can you SLOP?
When may a divert be made when on an ETOPS flight?
SLOP: .1 - 2 miles
Divert: 5 miles and below 290
For the folowing callouts for HGS AIII and Autoland procedures when are they called?
“Flare Armed”
“AIII Armed”
“Rollout Armed?”
Flare Armed is called for auto land approaches only.
AIII and Rollout armed are for HUD approaches only
All of them are for Hybrid approaches.
On a number one engine failure, on the A A/P, when proceeding through the checklist and about to utilize the APU for covering the bus, what can be done so that you don’t have a disconnect of auto flight?
Select the B autopilot, and after the APU Gen takes the bus, switch back to the A A/P
What approaches may a crew utilize for LNAV and VNAV despite not being an RNAV approach? Example: LOC
Anything retrieved from the database. Verify for step-downs inside the FAF and that the GS is coincident.
What is the difference in setting minimums for a DH versus a MDA?
MDA’s require addition of 50 feet to the MDA.
