Print Reading Flashcards
Identify components that makeup a drawing number
13-E-MAB-001
13-unit designator
E-discipline
MA- system designator
B-type of drawing
001-sequence number
Why as-built drawing are preferred over design drawings
As-built are updated within 24 hours rather than up to 60 days for design drawings
Drawings for standard numbering and symbols
Mechanical: 13-M-ZZP-001 - 004
Electrical: 13-E-ZZB-001 - 007
Purpose of a Piping and Instrument Diagram
- shows functional relationship between components
- Energy connections between components
- piping design requirements
- flow direction
Does not show location or configuration. Not to scale.
Single line electrical drawings
Discipline E
Type A
For load centers and MCCs the sequence number is usually related to LC or MCC #
LC 1-E-NGN-L05 on drawing 01-E-NGA-005
MCC 21 on drawing 01-E-NHA-021
Class load centers are just the last #
ie: 1E-PGA-L31 is on 01-E-PGA-001
The legend gives a description of each device
Functional table outlines the function of each relay
Main Power path is bold. Protection/Indication path are thin typed lines
Quality Ratings
Q- necessary for nuclear safety
QAG-necessary for full power ops or safety of plant personnel
NQR-not quality related
Elementary electrical drawing
Cabling Block Diagram- shows the circuit by location and interconnecting cables. Can have multiple block diagrams called schemes.
Switch chart shows what contacts are made up when a switch is in a certain position. It also states if switch is “maintained” in a certain position.
