Principles Of Training And Warming Up And Cooling Down Flashcards
4 most important principles of training
Specify
Progressive Overload
Reversibility
Tedium
What is Specificity and how is it used in a training programme
Specificity = make the it specific to the sport - make sure training your doing is appropriate to your sport
What is progressive overload and how is it used in a training programme
Overload = by putting body under additional stress (increase fitness) - you need to gradually increase the intensity in training
What is reversibility and how is it used in a training programme
Reversibility = losing fitness levels when not training - if you stop training for a period of time you might not be able to go back at the level you were training at before
What is Tedium and how is it used in a training programme
Tedium = Boredom that occurs in training - you would need to use a variety in your training to prevent boredom
Stages of Warming up
- gradual pulse raiser
- stretching
- skill based practice
- mental preparation
- increase amount of oxygen going to working muscles
Stages of cooling down
Immediate phase
Intermediate phase
Late phase
Activities for warming up and cooling down
Warming up - light jog (gentle heart raiser)
Cooling down - walking and jogging
