Principles of Training Flashcards
What are the Principles of Training
SPORT: > Specificity > Progression > Overload > Reversibility > Tedium
Name the 3 energy systems in muscles
> ATP - PCR (0-8s)
Glycolytic (6-90s)
Oxidative (Aerobic)
What is the ATP - PCR energy system?
Immediate energy system e.g. jumping
What is the Glycolytic energy system?
After a few seconds of exercise, anaerobic glycolytic pathways provide an increasing percentage of the energy to support max activity e.g. 200m sprints
What is the Oxidative energy system?
Long term energy system e.g. running beyond 800m
Name the 3 Muscle Fibre Types
> Slow Oxidative (Type I)
Fast Oxidative (Type IIa)
Fast Glycolytic (Type IIx/b)
Name the 8 muscle pairs
> Pectoral/Latissimus Dorsi > Anterior Deltoids/Posterior Deltoids > Abdominals/Spinal Erectors > Left and Right external Obliques > Quadriceps/Hamstrings > Shins/Claves > Biceps/Triceps > Forearm Flexors/Extensors
What are the muscle spindles and golgi-tendon organs
Proprioceptors
What do Muscle Spindles do?
Monitor changes in the length of the muscle
What do Golgi-Tendon Organs do?
Is a mechanorecptor that is sensitive to muscular tension applied to its muscle to its tendon, providing information about the strength of muscle contraction
What do the energy systems depend on?
SID
> Sessions
> Duration of exercise
> Intensity of exercise
