Define Formal balance and its two types.
Symmetrical balance is when the picture on one side is semeste oval to the other.
Radial balance is when the elements all blame from the centre point (i.e Flower)
What is Emphasis?
It is creates when one or more elements stand out as the focal points.
Dominate (more important)
Sub-ordinate (less important)
What is Harmony?
It is created when similar or related elements are combines in a composition.
(Helps create unity)
What is variety?
It is created when slightly different elements are contrasted or arranged to create visual interest.
(Or toe provide a break in the religion Ina composition)
What is movement?
It is created as a sense of action or dynamism.
Usually through diagonal or curved lines
What is rhythm?
It is the repetition of a pattern that creates a feeling of activity.
Are the five types of rhythms?
Random Regular Alternating Flowing Progressive
What is proportion?
It refers to the size relationship if one or more elements to each other.
What is gradation?
It is the step to step change of one or more elements.
What is unity?
It allows you to see a complex combination of elements, principles and media as a complete whole.
What is Balance?
Balance is the arrangement of elements do no single part of the artwork overpowers the rest of the artwork.
