A

The lightness and darkness of non-coloured objects.

You can use shading to create tonal value

High contrast is used to creat sudden changes

Low contrast is used to rest gradual change in value

What is Shape? 2D? 3D? geometric Shapes? Free form shapes?

A

An enclosed space defines by other elements.

2D shapes have length and width.
3D shapes have length, width and depth, called forms. Forms have volume and surface area (mass).

Geometric shapes are precise shapes that you can describe with a mathimatical formula

Free form shapes are irregular and uneven.

A

Explain space is 2D and 3D objects

A

2D: the object is positive and the space around it is negative.
3D: is determined by 6 things:
- size (larger in front, smaller in back)
- Detail ( sharp in front, hazy on back)
- Overlapping ( Closer objects cover farther objects)
- Colour Temperature (Warm advance, cool recede)
- Placement ( location within picture)
-Persoective (1, 2, or 3)

A

The surface quality or feel of an object.

Real: can be felt by touch
Visual: can trigger our memory of how they feel.
