What are the three primary colours?
Red, Blue and Yellow
What are qualities of the primary colours?
- They create all the other colours on the colour wheel.
* They cannot be created by mixing other colours together.
What are the three secondary colors?
Green, Orange, and Purple
What are the qualities of secondary colors?
• They are created by mixing two primary colours.
What is a Tertiary colour?
These colours are created when a primary colour is mixed with the secondary colour beside it on the colour wheel.
In naming, the primary colour goes first.
(Ex: Red Purple)
What is a Monochromatic colour scheme?
This scheme is created by using different tonal values (tints and shades) of one hue.
What is the Analogous colour scheme?
This is a scheme that utilizes any 3-5 colors adjacent ( beside each other ) on the color wheel.
What is the complementary color scheme?
This scheme utilizes colours that are opposite to each other on the colour wheel.
What is a split complementary color scheme?
This scheme utilizes one colour plus the colours adjacent (on each side of) it’s complementary.
(Orange, Blue, Yellow)
What are the three distinct properties of colour, and their meaning?
Hue refers to the specific name of the color.
Intensity refers to the brightness or dullness of a color.
Value refers to the lightness or darkness of a color.
