- labour had image of just helping the working class, so in order to appeal to middle class and businesses, blair had clause iv of the labour party’s constitution rewritten in 1995- helped change labour’s image as being more amiable towards people with businesses who wanted to continue making profit.
- incredibly large majority secured in commons- 419 seats- could pass laws easily.
- devolution to Scotland, wales and n Ireland 1998

People’s princess speech- personal rhetorics reinforces his dominant personality, ruling separate from cabinet- ‘sofa cabinet’

- blair was robbed of votes in 2005 due to the Iraq war 2001, robin Cooke did not use his prerogative rights.
-Blair’s rival chancellor of exchequer Gordon brown began pressuring Blair to step down. As a result of his low popularity in both the country and his party, he resigned in 2007 and replaced by brown.

Presidential= she won 61 percent in the con party leader vote when replacing Cameron
Immediately sacked George Osborne as chancellor of exchequer and replaced him with Phillip Hammond.
Pushed forward controversial polices such as reintroduction of grammar schools, fox hunting and idea of repealing hra 1998 with a British bill of rights.

- called a ge in 2017, she lost the parliamentary majority Cameron had won in 2015- party had less seats and weaker, harder to pass laws.
2018 chequers agreement discussed Brexit deal, led to bj [ foreign secretary ]and David Davis [ Brexit secretary] decided to resign
Brexit deals defeated in jan 2019, 432-202 votes. Continued to be rejected by parliament.
