Preterit forms of regular ER and IR verbs whose stem end in a vowel, the preterit ending for él/ella and ustedes form is -yó and -yeron
Ex) Leer: leí leímos
leíste

Stem changing IR verbs change E to I and O to U in the EL/ ELLA/ USTED and USTEDES/ELLOS/AS forms
Ex) preferir, dormir, morir, pedir, seguir, etc.
