What are insider methods?
Insider methods are a method used by pressure groups which look to influence government directly by making contact with politicians and decision makers.
What are outsider methods?
Outsider methods are used to influence government indirectly by informing and pursuading the public to support them.
What are some examples of insider methods?
Pressure groups trying to access key decision makers (PM, Cabinet and Civil Servants).
Provide specialist information and advice when government is introducing new legislation.
Target specific members of the Houses.
What are some examples of outsider methods?
Mass public campaigns, (marches and demonstrations)
publicity stunts
social media, e-petitions
use of celebs and other influential figures
civil disobedience.
What is civil disobedience?
Form of direct action where there is a refusal to obey certain rules.

What is a interest/sectional group?
Group where membership is restricted to certain members of society. Aim to look after interests of this particular group.
