Q

Units for pressure

A

Newtons/cm2 and pascals.
A pascal is a measurement for pressure. 1 pascal = 1N/m.
One pascal = 0.001n/cm2

Q

Hydraulics

A

Liquids are good in hydraulics because they are very difficult to compress as the molecules are very close together.
The pressure applied at one end of a liquid sealed inside a cylinder is transferred all the way along to the other end.
Linking cylinder of different diameters together enables the force to be increased or decreased.
Changing the diameter of the cylinder does not change the pressure in the liquid but it does change the are to which the pressure is applied to which then changes the size of the force

Q

Define pressure

A

Pressure is a way of saying how concentrated a force is. The pressure exerted on an object depends upon the force applied to it and the area the force is applied to.
