Pressure Flashcards
Define Pressure
it is defined as the force exerted per unit area
Pressure Formula
Force (N)/ Area (m square)
look at example question and diagram
Area of A= 0.2cm x 0.3cm = 0.06cm squared therefore, pressure exerted by A= 120/0.06 =2000Pa ... look at the other ones
THE FOLLOWING WILL BE
PRESSURE DUE TO LIQUIDS (start to read example)
the water falling out of the upper hole falls…
closest to the can
the water falling out the lowest hole falls…
furthest away
what does this can exercise demonstrate
(that cans can get buff) PRESSURE INCREASES WITH DEPTH
unlike the vertical hole arrangement, in a can with holes drilled horizontally into it, the water falling out is observed to be falling…
all at the same distance away from the can
this one demonstrates that the
PRESSURE AT ONE HORIZONTAL LEVEL IS THE SAME
in a liquid: Pressure=
height of liquid column x density of liquid x acceleration due to gravity
(P= hρg)
