Electricity Flashcards
A conductor is
a material through which electricity, heat or sound can flow through easily
an ELECTRICAL conductor can conduct
(your mom) electricity duh i.e. easily allows electricity to flow through it
which electrons are loosely bound and free to move through the material
outer (valence) electrons, hence the presence of ‘free electrons’
eg of metals
iron, silver, gold and copper
metals are said to be
good conductors
materials that are poor electrical conductors are said to be
good insulators bruh
what is a current
any electrical movement through a material
hello
take a break if you havent. eat and drink water
an insulator is a
material that does not easily allow the passage of electricity, heat or sound
can an electrical insulator conduct electricity?
NO it cannot
why are there little to no free electrons present
the orbiting (valence) electrons are bound firmly to their atoms
common insulators
glass, paper, air, plastic, rubber and wood
materials that are poor electrical insulators are said to be
good conductors
an electrical current (state unit) consists of
unit- I (capital i), consists of moving electric charges
what are positive charges
protons
