steps to find irregular shapes
divide the irregular shape into regular shapes that you can recognise
find the area of the individual shapes then add them up
for ease of calculation, we
divide the shapes into squares
steps for grid thingy
grid is drawn over shape consisting of equal sized squares
area of one square is calculated
number of squares completely covered by grid are counted and noted
no. of squares that are not completely covered but have more than half of their area covered are counted
numbers obtained in steps 3 and 4 are added
