presentation of qualitative data Flashcards
1
Q
what is normal distribution
A
- most people are located in the middle area of the curve with very few people at the extreme ends
- mean medium and mode all occupy the same midpoint of the curve
- tails never touch the x axis
2
Q
what is a positive skew
A
- most of the distribution is concentrated towards the left of the graph
- results in a long tail on the right
- mode remains at the highest point of the peak
- the medium comes nest
- mena dragged across the tail
3
Q
what is a negative skew
A
- scores concentrated on the right
- long tail on the left
- mean pulled to the left
- mode at the highest peak
- medium in the middle
4
Q
what is a scattergram
A
represents the strength and direction of the relationship between co variables in the correlational analysis
5
Q
what is a bar chart
A
the frequency of each variable is represented by the height of the bars
6
Q
what is a histogram
A
shows the frequency with the area of the bars representing frequency
- the x axis must start at a true zero and the scare is continuous
